Apple themed??? Hmmm. I have my 3rd graders color an apple, then cut it into pieces and leave space between the pieces as they glue it to construction paper...I should blog about that in a few weeks when I have samples....
ReplyDeleteI have a giveaway going too for my one year blogiversary...

Apple themed- we do whole thematic unit starting with Johnny Appleseed books and compare and contrast the stories, label the parts of an apple, the life cycle of an apple tree, and then eat and compare red and green apples.
ReplyDeleteI love to make homemade applesauce as a culminating activity at the end of our apple unit. The kids love it! And it leads into a great graphing lesson and "how to" writing!

I usually work with small groups (spec ed) students so I love to do food activities. My favorite apple one is decorating a cookie w/ green Cool Whip & adding re m& m's. We work on sequencing, following directions, fine motor skills, etc. Of course the kids love it because they get to eat their apple tree.dbednarsk@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI would love to use apples in all of my décor! That would be so awesome! But I also love the idea of making applesauce as a 'how to' writing!
ReplyDeleteI love apple tasting. I try to buy as many different kinds of apples for my kinders to taste. We take a bite and graph whether we liked it or not. Then graph our favorites. Ash, your giveaway is AWESOME!!!

Mr. First Grade
I like to tie it in with Johnny Appleseed because he planted trees around the area where I live. I have a video we watch that mentions our county, although they botch the pronunciation. This makes the kids chuckle.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I don't do apple themed activities with my junior gifted students BUT I DO love apple themed anything! Several years ago when I had to take time off from teaching for surgery, my class bought a HUGE red apple cookie jar and filled it with "get well wishes". I have never been so touched! I have that jar still filled with the precious wishes in my kitchen! No cookies will ever enter that special gift!

Learning Is Something To Treasure
Well since my last name is Applegate apples are ALWAYS mentioned by my students. My favorite was when they decided make a paper gate (literally) and cut out and glue apples onto the gate to represent each student in the class. It was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!

My favorite apple activity is using apples to learn about fractions!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite apple activity is to graph our favorite types of apples and to use them to learn about fractions! :) Bforbes89@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite apple activity is bring your favorite apple food to share. The students write about it before hand and tell, in their opinion, why it is their favorite. Then after the tasting is finished they decide if the apple food they brought is still their favorite and why. It is interesting to see the results and the reasons.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Great giveaway!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like to have the kids taste a slice of different types of apples and then create a graph of which one they liked best!
