We sing happy birthday and I give them a birthday certificate and a pencil.

For birthdays we sing, give a badge, crown, certificate, and then a birthday balloon attached to a squiggly straw. A fun day!
ReplyDeleteWith birthday cupcakes and goodie bags!
ReplyDeleteI celebrate birthdays by giving each child a pencil and a homework pass on his or her birthday.
ReplyDeleteMy crafting fails always have to do with hot glue guns. When I tried to make a wreath off of Pinterest, I tried to use the hot glue gun, but always end up burning myself and getting those "strings" everywhere!
ReplyDeleteWe celebrate birthdays by the child bringing in a treat. We also sing to them, give them a card and they get to get into the treat basket.
ReplyDeleteMy crafting fail was the first time I used spray paint. What a runny mess. I am much better at it now! Thank goodness!
For birthdays I give each student a crazy straw with a Happy Birthday balloon attached to it. I also add Pixie sticks and tootsie pops and tie them to the straw with birthday ribbon. I put a chair topper which says "Happy Birthday" on the student chair. I put two HUGE buttons on their desk which say "Today is my birthday" and "I'm the birthday BOY/GIRL". For next year I got some party decorations, and I have a centre piece which looks like an exploding cake which I intend to put on their desk as well.

Another craft fail I produced was my first "NO NAME" sign. I had seen them on pinterest and wanted one for my classroom. I made one on a plaque which I had painted, and I attached 4 clothespegs. The letters I attached looked really WEIRD and it just wasn't my style. To me it was a fail. I did make another one which I am very proud of and I have a picture of it on my blog. The failure you ask? Oh, another staff member thought it was great..so she has it on her wall..but I have to admit, at the end of the year it was turned backwards...maybe she thinks it is a fail too!

ReplyDeleteThe students draw a picture of something they would like to give them for their birthday and than I staple them all together in a birthday napkin.
ReplyDeleteFor birthdays I give them a goodie bag full of snacks to take home. We try to make a big deal about it since most of them won't receive much from home.
ReplyDeleteMy ultimate craft would be my classroom. I love painting the furniture and redoing everything!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm lost. I wanted to make a comment to enter the rafflecopter but everyone is talking about specific items and I didn't see that anywhere. I love your blog - I'm one of your newest fans.
ReplyDeleteAsh, this giveaway is amazing! What a great job and SO organized. You are one smart cookie!

I'm confused just like Maria above. I really don't have any dinosaur activities for the classroom. dbednarsk@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI have a dinosaur packet and we made stegasoraus names.
ReplyDeleteWe don't really do a dinosaur activity, but we talk about the extinction and read about discovering fossils.
ReplyDeleteWe don't really do much with dinosaurs, but I found a fun dino poem with strong verbs, so each pair of students takes one verb and defines it and makes a large picture to go on top. We hang them all up to help them understand the words.
ReplyDeleteWe use chocolate chip cookies and are fossil hunters with toothpicks to get all of the chocolate chips aka dinosaur bones out of the cookie.

I don't do dinosaurs in my classroom but my Boyfriends father buys exact replicas of them for his Snow tubing park so I am around very large ones all the time!

I like to have my students write about dinosaurs. It's really interesting when they make up their own kinds.
ReplyDeleteI always have a create and name your own dinosaur presentation! The kids love it!!
ReplyDeleteI have never used a dino themed activity.
ReplyDeleteIt has been years since we did a dinosaur theme. I suppose it must have been when we made dinosaurs out of clothes hangers and glued paper around them to form a dinosaur.

I don't get to do a dino unit, but I bet it would be fun!
ReplyDeleteWe do inventaurus where the students get to invent their own dinosaur and write about it.
ReplyDeleteI am going to be honest... I havent done dinosaurs in my classroom....yet
ReplyDeleteKaren
We usually do a dino report. sometimes we make up our own dinosaurs..
ReplyDeleteWe don't do anything with dinosaurs in the classroom. However, my kids love to read about them in my nonfiction section of books. :) Bforbes89@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWe read STOMP, and make dino feet out of card stock and stomp around the room.
ReplyDeleteMy first year my students made a dinosaur diorama. I was completely opposed to it because I was a first year teacher and I was nervous about the potential for mess and mayhem, but it was incredible! My students were thoughtful and creative and it was an awesome activity. Unfortunately there is no space in our new curriculum for dinosaurs... I wish there was.. someday *sigh*
ReplyDeleteWe have done a small dinosaur project where we review several dinosaurs together. Then we take a class vote and choose a favorite to write about.
