Come link up with Farley and join in on the fun!

Here's to a fantastic school year!

Currently May

I haven't linked up with Farley for a Currently in months! Well, it is about time I change that ASAP! Here is what I have been up to this Month.

http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/

http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/2015/05/currently-may-2016.html

Listening:
I have been scouring lists like THIS and THIS to finalize my EOY slideshow music. This is my first ever year making an EOY slideshow and I know it is going to take a lot of effort for the perfectionist in me to be satisfied. If you have any songs that are a must have, please let me know in the comments!

Loving:
After discovering that Revenge was going to be cancelled, I decided to find a new ABC drama to watch. I have really been loving Secrets and Lies lately. I'm hoping that this show doesn't get cut too because so many of my shows are coming to an end this year!

Thinking:
Next week starts my EOY testing period. I want to make sure my littles are prepared to shine like the superstars I know they are! I have so much to get done and so little time! Thank goodness for ESGI! They will be my lifesaver! Click HERE if you want to read my blog post about why I love ESGI and get a promo code for $40 off your subscription!

Wanting:
I just can't get everything done in a 2 day weekend anymore. This EOY madness is really crazy! I had no idea how much administration piles on you and just how fast time flies! Can't every weekend be a 3 day weekend?

Needing:
My organization needs to get stepped up a notch. I am a HUGE piler, and as a result, I seem to be misplacing something the moment I set it down. I can't lose any of these important EOY papers so I need to kick it into high gear and make sure there is a place for everything, and everything is in its place!

Summer:
While I still have a long ways to go until summer, it is never too early to plan ahead. I know I will be doing some traveling this summer to tour colleges, but I just don't know where just yet. I guess that is part of the fun! I really am hoping to hear about my job for next year! As a first year teacher, you just never know what your fate will be from one year to the next! Here's hoping I find out early on so that I can prep for the year to come over the summer and not just a couple of days before school starts! While I really would LOVE to make it to Vegas this summer, it is not looking like it is in the cards. If only Vegas was closer to the East Coast! I want to attend this fabulous professional development and meet so many blogging friends!

Well, I can't wait to hear what you are up to! So many of you are so close to the end of the year! We just crossed into the 30's for our countdown! The snow this winter was brutal!

Currently 2015

Happy New Year! I am trying to start off small this year with regards to blogging. Hopefully I can manage to post once a week at first. I hope to gradually build this number up over time but slow and steady wins the race right?

To kick off 2015 on the right foot, I am linking up with the one and only Farley for her Currently series.

http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/

Listening: This break I have been addicted to HGTV. You know you are getting old when you graduate college and become immediately obsessed with all things home and garden.

Loving: This vacation I actually went to the library and checked out books for me! I was able to read two novels and it was just so relaxing! I forgot how much I love reading! I need to make this more of a priority in 2015!

Thinking: I am so not ready for my alarm to kick back in on Monday morning. I have been loving waking up whenever I feel like it and having lazy pj days. I am sure my body will be in for a rude awakening on Monday morning!

Wanting: At 3:30 I just walked out the door on the last day of school with everything Christmasy still in place. I am not so sure that was the smart decision now that I will have twice as much prep work when I walk in the building on Monday. If only we had a prep day before those kiddos came back!

Needing: After printing 300 pages and laminating 200 of them, I wish I had a personal assistant...or 3. 1 to place the pages in the lamination film, 1 to feed the laminating into the machine, and 1 to cut the laminating out. A girl can dream right?

Yes, Maybe, I Wish: This year I am going to try and cut back on technology. I know my eyesight is getting worse and I was having headaches from too much screen time. I need to cut back especially before bed! I am hoping to change things up and stay more organized. I start out really strong with all the ideas in place but then casually over time piles just start building up and papers get all mixed together until I forget why I bothered in the first place. For my wish, I really am hoping to go to Vegas this year. If not, it will be my 4th year of blog stalking the event and I don't think I can really handle it! Now that I have a job, I am hoping some of my colleagues might be interested in attending as well! It seems like the best PD you could ask for!

Hopefully I will be able to blog about our week back to school if all goes well and I do not fall asleep at 4pm every afternoon! If you don't catch me on here, you can most certainly find me on IG and harass me to get posting!

How Did It Get To Be Currently October?

This whole time passing crazy fast thing has got to stop! It feels like we just started school yesterday and here we are already in the holiday countdown craze! I have been feeling extra reflective lately and I created a little linky party reflecting on my favorites of the previous month. I'd love it if you linked up too! Click the picture below to check it out!

http://thepolishedteacher.blogspot.com/2014/09/september-favorites-monthly-linky-party.html

Farley never disappoints! This October currently is cuter than ever! Here is how my October is starting off so far...Stay tuned for a special treat at the end!

http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/2014/10/october-currently.html

The first two go hand in hand. Thursday nights are the best! I can thank my IG buddies for getting me hooked on Shonda shows! This new one has totally got me captivated! I think it might be my favorite yet!

I have never gotten the chance to plan for all these fun themed events but I am having a blast! It makes learning so much more engaging and provides an endless supply of memories! I know the kids will love what I have in store for next week thanks to some amazing teachers!

Is it just me or has the kid's crazy level been turned up to high power this week? We changed the calendar to October and boom: instant crazy! It's like they can already sense the sugar coursing through their veins! Thank goodness Halloween falls on a Friday this year!

Organization has been my main goal this year. I am determined to have a system in place for everything. If only I had a personal assistant who could do all the dirty work for me and I could just walk in and everything would magically be in its place! There is just not enough time in the day to stay on top of the paperwork and I refuse to stay at school until 7pm every night!

Finally, here is a little treat for you all. It's a flashback freebie that many of you might not have had a chance to see before. You can enjoy these Halloween ten frame posters than help meet those CCSS!

Made it in the top 100 on the Currently! Nailed it!

Currently: Five for August

It pains my teacher heart to say that August has finally arrived.

http://www.someecards.com/usercards/viewcard/MjAxMi02ZmQ3OGIzODQ5NmMzMmM2

My entire life I have always had two full months of summer vacation: July and August. We have always started after Labor Day. However, this year, my vacation didn't start until the end of the last week of June and I go back in less than two weeks. As excited as I am to meet my first set of my own kinder babies, just a little bit more vacation (to prep of course) would be lovely!

As much as I like to play the what day is it card...

http://www.someecards.com/usercards/viewcard/MjAxMi01YzhiOWFjMzZmYjYwMzBh

My blogging buddies here like to keep me informed. Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching always reminds me when another Friday rolls around, and Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade always gets me on the first of the month. Since these linky parties are my favorite thing, I will suck up my summer sadness and share all my back to school excitement with the Five for Friday and Currently parties combined.

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/2014/08/five-for-friday-linky-partyaugust-1.html

In case you missed the memo, I got a job teaching kindergarten! I could not be more excited! As all kinder teachers know, those babies steal your heart in a second!
My little 8 year old cousin is a teacher in the making. When she found out I had a job she could not wait to send me a list of things I need to do to prep. The "beafwear" and "elebetic" charts are my favorites.
This online teaching community has truly changed my life! When I posted this picture on Instagram asking for help, Rebecca Seeley replied in literally seconds and got right to work creating the most adorable labels that were even better than I could have dreamed of. If you need a TpT store to find some deals for the back to school sale, hit up her store by clicking HERE. You won't be sorry!
Speaking of the sale...did I mention that as a first year teacher, I might have a slight addiction to bundles? Once I checked into TpT bundles anonymous, I was able to cut my list in half from over $400 to the $200 range. Where did all the extra bundles go? Onto my wishlist and then some. When does the next TpT sale come around because I will be stocking up big time!

It is crazy to think that I will have been blogging for two years this month! So many things have happened in such a short period of time and I cannot wait to reflect on my journey when the time nears! But for now, I am off to find more items for the TpT sale and hopefully check some things off my to-do list. Lets hope I win some of those TpT gift certificate giveaways because this first year teacher is broke!

Currently July

It's kind of crazy to believe it is July already! Summer just started not even a week ago and here we are in July. When you go to school until the last week of June you kind of feel like your got the short end of the stick.

Nevertheless, I am linking up with Farley once again. This time around I am fashionably late, aka time has no meaning to a teacher on summer vacation.

Listening: My nightly summer TV routine always features Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Have to keep that mind sharp! Don't want the summer slide am I right?

Loving: There is nothing like summer vacation after a long 180 days in the classroom! I am soaking up every minute of sunshine and relaxation!

Thinking: I am hosting this font themed linky party...
http://thepolishedteacher.blogspot.com/2014/06/font-astic-favorites-tag.html
I may have downloaded nearly 1,000 fonts after searching through the link up. If you want to find some new fonts or link up, click the picture to join!

Wanting: I posted this picture on Instagram this morning...
That was the total price of all the items on my wish list as of 1pm. The total may have gone up another hundred dollars in a matter of hours. I might have a problem!

Needing: I really think I want to try some Jamberry wraps. I painted my nails and they were chipped literally in a matter of minutes. I would love to start off the new school year with some fancy non-chipping nails! What are your favorite designs?

4th plans: The fireworks and BBQ have been cancelled due to the impending storm. Better safe than sorry! At least they will be rescheduled!

Happy 4th everyone! Hope you enjoy time surrounded by family and friends!

June Currently

I'm living by the less is more motto this month!
Happy June!

Thanks for helping me keep track of the month Farley!

There's No Way It's Currently May!

There's no way it's Currently May! Seriously, this year has been going by at warp speed! Surely it cannot be just me who feels that way!

Well since yet another month has passed, it is time once again to link up with Farley for her spectacular "Currently" linky party!

http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/

I think this might be my favorite design theme so far! Those spring flowers make me smile!

Listening: If you interact with me on Instagram, you might know that I have developed quite the obsession with Grey's Anatomy. These "Fairwell to Cristina" episodes are killing me! It just won't be the same without her!

Loving: GoNoodle! It can be very hard to find "child friendly" brain breaks, especially on YouTube with those inappropriate ads that pop out of nowhere. GoNoodle is seriously a lifesaver! Thanks to the blogging community for sharing this invaluable free resource!

Thinking: It can't possibly be true that I am graduating in a few days! The countdown is on! The nostalgia of childhood is taking over! I have basically been living on 90's Buzzfeed articles. After graduation, it will be full on job searching! Is your district hiring? Let me know!

Wanting: A week of true spring sunshine weather! It has been either freezing cold, rainy, or both at least one day a week for as long as I can remember. Just a week full of 70's and sunshine would be amazing! Those kiddos need to run around and burn some energy to combat their spring fever from being cooped up insider all winter!

Needing: To buy a dress or two for graduation events. In all the craziness of this semester, I have been procrastinating on the small details. With only a few days left to shop, I need to hit the stores this weekend!

Surprise:

http://blossomingteaching.blogspot.com/
Recently, I was introduced to Erica when she commented on my blog. She blogs over at The Blossoming Teacher. She is an aspiring early childhood educator entering the blogging world. She reminds me of myself just last year when I started out. She currently only has 2 followers. I'd love it if you could go shower her with some bloggy love! Thanks a million!

Don't blink! It will be June before you know it!

Where have I been? Currently April!

It has been quite a while since I have posted regularly with a content rich post. Now I am not really one to make excuses, but I have been very preoccupied lately. What have I been up to you might ask? Prepping for graduation! It's just over a month away! Yikes!

Here is a list of all that I have been up to in March....

1. Professional portfolio - Seriously the most labor intense thing I have ever created! However, I am absolutely in love with how it turned out and hope it will be put to good use soon!

2. Resume writing - I did not realize how often these things have to get updated! It seems mine needs an over haul every month. I just finished updating it this weekend and in just a couple of weeks it will need to be updated again when I start another job.

3. Cover letters and more cover letters - I have spent so much time researching school philosophies and mission statements this past month that I could probably quote them in my sleep!

4. SchoolSpring - No one tells you how much data entry goes in to each little section of SchoolSpring. Nothing can be uploaded as a PDF and be good to go. You have to type in every little detail of every section. SchoolSpring has taken over my life!

5. Interview prep - I have been attending interview practice sessions for the upcoming job fairs that I will be attending in neighboring states. I have been taking each answer and writing out what I would say so that I can be more prepared and less caught off guard during interviews.

6. Subbing - In between all the above, I have been subbing a lot! Today is the one day that I have had off in a long time! Subbing in multiple districts is fantastic experience but definitely keeps me very busy!

7. Graduation prep - Cap and gown, financial aid, transcripts, mandatory meetings, and the list could go on forever! Who knew there was so much crammed into the last couple months of college!

8. Certification/Testing - I have been trying to branch out and get certified in multiple states to increase my odds of getting a job for next year. Along with certification comes additional, very expensive, testing. Not my idea of fun if you ask me!

So as you can see I have definitely been very busy in March. Hopefully April will slow down but I anticipate it will be busier than ever before!

3 days late, but I am finally getting around to linking up with Farley. She keeps me realizing just how fast this year is going by! We are already over a quarter finished with the new year! Can we just press on the brakes a little bit? No? I didn't think so!

Here's how my April is playing out...

Listening: When working, I love to listen to singing competition shows. They don't require my full attention on screen but still provide enough entertainment to get me through my work load. I don't know what it is this year but I don't really care for anyone in particular on Idol this year. No one really stands out as that amazing singer or great personality for me this year. Anyone else feel this way?

Loving: Done, done, done! I could sing it on a mountain top! I am finally finished with my portfolio! It only took four years in the making! I have already heard to stories of putting in all the hard work and no one even wanting to look at it during interviews but I refuse to let that happen!

Thinking: Seriously I have been awake for nearly an entire length of a school day and am still lounging in my pajamas and watching TV. This is why days off are pointless for me! I am so unproductive when clearly there are a million things I could be doing today!

Wanting: I just live for the weekends now! Combine subbing, coursework, and job searching and I am exhausted! Those weekend days are my sanity! Friday I wish you would just hurry up and get here!

Needing: I am going to some job fairs in the near future and need a suit jacket per request of my professor. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to find one on sale somewhere. Shopping for suit jackets just isn't nearly as much fun as shopping for fun springy patterns and colors!

Hours and Last Day: As a sub in multiple districts, the times and end dates vary greatly. It can range anywhere from 7:45 to 9:00 as a start time to 3:00 to 4:30 as an end time. Same goes with end dates, especially with all those snow days, but we are looking at mid to end June. I am so jealous of all you lucky teachers who get out the beginning of May! You actually get to enjoy springtime from outside your classroom walls!

Well I am off to make some lunch and maybe decide to be productive for the second half of my day. Happy April!

Currently March?

See that little bar over to the right >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The one that says follow me on Bloglovin?
See the number right below it?
997!
Only 3 away from a lavish 1,000 follower celebration!
If you are new here or haven't followed my blog yet,
now would be the ideal time to do so!
I would be forever grateful!
You know how I like to throw some major giveaways on this blog!
Can reaching 1,000 be the best kick-off to March ever?
I think so! Let's do this!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is no possible way it is already March 1st, 2014! It seems like just yesterday I was filling out Currently February and the day before that Currently January! Yikes! Slow down time!
So the ever fabulous Farley just had the most amazing blog makeover by none other than The 3am Teacher. It is probably one of my favorite designs ever! I love how everything is custom and Buck made his big debut in clip art form! Obviously, when he appeared in the Currently for March, without a doubt it was my favorite Currently design ever! Love that stylish guy!
Although I am in denial about it being March... I just had to link up!
http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/2014/02/currently-march.html
Listening: Cannot.Get.Enough.Grey's! Since the new episodes just aired on ABC this Thursday I have been trying to get all caught up with Grey's. I am cruising right along through season 7 and loving it more than ever. Oh the drama! I won't say any spoilers on here because I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but if you have not seen Grey's get on it pronto!
Loving: Maybe it is just me, but I need to know random things like what type of breakfast cereal I am, or what Modern Family character I would be. I am obsessed! Procrastination at its finest! Some are so far out there with their results but others are very accurate. I took a "What should you have majored in at college?" quiz and got teacher. Way to go Buzzfeed...way to keep me hooked!
Thinking: Graduation is in less than 80 days. Just over 2 months away. Eek! Yikes! Zoinks! Is this real life? There is so much prep work that goes into graduation. When you are an education major, that work infinitely multiplies. This is one jam-packed semester. See you at 3am Michelle because that has become my new bedtime!
Wanting: This gigantic "Winter Storm Titan"? Yea...I've had enough of you before you even started! The snow hasn't even melted and yet here we go again! I haven't seen grass in months! There will be no Summer vacation because we will still be catching up on all those snow days in August! Warm weather where are you? I need you to keep my sanity in tact!
Needing: With all the crazy things going on in education-land and the snowy weather, all I want to do with my life is curl up in my pj's and watch Netflix. Papers are the last thing on my mind. I need some serious motivation STAT because I did fabulously on my last paper and want to live up to the hype this time around!
???????: "Do What U Want" by Lady Gaga ft. R. Kelly. What could that possibly be the answer to? No, it's not the generic favorite song or song I can't stand. Take your best guess in the comments below! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Now head on over and link up too! Farley's rule of 3 is the best way to make new bloggy buds!
Happy March!
Currently February
Although I spent the past 2 days in denial, it is indeed February. I am on the countdown to graduation. It's getting really real y'all!
Thanks for keeping my on track with this posting business Farley! I love these monthly reflections! This graphic is as cute as ever!
http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/
http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/2014/01/currently-february.html
Listening:
Or should I say half listening... I am not a football fan so the Super Bowl isn't really for me. I do like to watch commercials and I have to say I was very disappointed. There weren't really any commercials that were worth $4 million for 30 seconds in my opinion. The only one I loved was the Best Buds puppy and horse one. That was precious! Otherwise, I could think of a million other uses for that money but that's neither here nor there.
Loving:
Scandal!!! It comes back in just 25 days (not that I'm counting or anything). I can't wait to see what is in store for Olivia Pope & Associates! I'm sure my IG friends will agree!
Thinking:
So.Much.Food! When you don't watch the game, you tend to frequent the snack table a lot. I definitely frequented that table a little too often and I stuffed beyond belief! I blame Pinterest for all those delicious recipes that you just can't turn away!
Wanting:
A full week of subbing combined with classes til 9pm is a deadly combo. This week can't get over fast enough! I'm living for Friday!
Needing:
So standing on my feed all day every day for months has finally caught up with me. My back and neck are in pain and I think a good old spa day is just what the doctor ordered!
1 Truths and a Fib:
I kinda hate this game. I am so bad at lying! It is too much pressure!
Starbucks: Fib! I have never had a drink from Starbucks before and I don't plan to any time soon!
Fuzzy Socks: I live in fuzzy socks! My house is constantly freezing and fuzzy socks make everything better!
90's Boy Bands: Kind of obsessed! 90's boy band music makes the commute to work a million times better!
Early to bed, early to rise, except if you are me and you always want to sleep in!
My laptop is dying though so I will head off to bed now!
Currently January and a Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Happy 2014! Did you stay awake til Midnight? I can't seem to get tired until 1am anymore so I was surely awake. It is a slight problem seeing as I have to be up in the wee hours of the morning for school tomorrow. If you have another week of vacation don't remind me how lucky you are!
Today I am linking up with the ever fabulous Farley from Oh Boy 4th Grade for the monthly Currently linky party. If you have never linked up, you better head on over. It's the best party in town!
Listening: My favorite part of vacation is watching The Price is Right. I grew up watching this show with my grandma and it brings back so many good memories. I learned I truly have no number sense when it comes to guessing prices however!
Loving: Oh my goodness! Where has Netflix been all my life! Best part: no commercials! This is life changing! If you haven't watched Scandal, go watch it on Netflix. You won't be sorry! Just be sure you have lots of spare time because you won't be able to stop watching!
Thinking: We had Chinese food last night for New Year's Eve and those leftovers are calling my name! Surely a eating healthy resolution can't start today because all that delicious food can't go to waste!
Wanting: There is a huge storm heading to the East Coast. Is it too much to ask for a snow day or two? Who decided it was a good idea to go back on Thursday anyway? Not me that's for sure! I just want to stay in my PJ's and drink hot cocoa watching the snow fall! What are some snow day rituals? Share in the comments below!
Needing: My room is kind of a hot mess. I have this shopping problem and then the bags just keep piling up no matter how fast I put them away. My closet is literally overflowing. I am going on strike on 2014. That just means no shopping because clearly I have no willpower against the Dollar Spot!
Memory: I absolutely loved using the elf on the shelf in the classroom this year. The kids were memorized with the elf! Seeing their eyes open wide every morning was truly a magical experience. If you didn't try the elf on the shelf this year, see if you can find it on clearance and save for next year. Your kids will thank you for it!
If you missed my freebie from earlier this week, click the picture to download it.
http://thepolishedteacher.blogspot.com/2013/12/freebie-inching-my-way-into-new-year.html
You can hopefully use it when you get back to school to document those resolutions.
Well, I am off to eat some leftovers, watch some Netflix, and pray for a snow day! Have a wonderful day! If you go back tomorrow, I feel your pain!
Currently December? Say what?
It cannot be December 3rd already! I feel like this year has been the fastest year yet! Anyone else with me? I finally decided I had neglected my blog and blog stalking enough! I think I am 3 weeks behind on blog stalking. Can you imagine the holiday freebies I missed out on! I figured I could muster up a Currently post since I am all into that Christmas spirit thing and it gives me inspiration! Pretty soon I will have plenty of time to post and stalk seeing as I won't be full time teaching. (Saddity, sad, sadsville!) I don't know how some of you juggle teaching, being a mom, blogging and TPTing. I used to think I was a multi-tasker but definitely not! You are absolutely amazing and the hardest working people I know! Anyhoo, before I go on an hour rambling rant, here is my Currently!
Listening: CMA Country Music special is on. Clearly on DVR because there was no way I was catching it on a Monday night! I love Christmas music! It just makes me so incredibly happy!
Loving: The Elf on the Shelf was clearly the best invention ever! I definitely believe I am more obsessed with the elf than the children are! I can't wait to see what he comes up with next! Be sure to follow his adventures on my Instagram! Did I mention my kids named him after their favorite brain break video? Yea, they are that cool! Which leads me to my "thinking"...
Thinking: It is unbelievable how attached you get to your students in such a short time. I think it was about 5 minutes before they stole my heart. This year has definitely been incredibly challenging behavior-wise but oh boy did I fall in love with these kiddos. I can't even bear to think that in just a few short days I will be leaving. I don't want to go! Get ready to cue the waterworks!
Wanting: I am pretty sure the calendar is missing a day. In my fantasy world it would go Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sleeperday. Just adding in that extra day completely devoted to sleep would make my life complete. My brand new Netflix addiction is not helping with the sleeping thing. Thus Sleeperday needs to be established!
Needing: Ink. Need I say more? The amount of ink that you need to keep up with all the amazing things you find on TPT in out of this world! I have been spending $60 left and right! Santa, do you hear me? I need ink! Lots and lots of ink!
Favorite Tradition: Every Christmas eve since I was a child I have opened one present. This present always contains a brand new pair of holiday PJ's that I wear to bed. It is one that I am quite fond of and am greatly looking forward to!
I am now headed off to bed since it is clearly past my "teacher" bedtime.
Have a wonderful Hump Day tomorrow! Oh that gives me the best idea! My elf should do a hump day antic tomorrow like in the Geico commercial! Gotta go get that sorted out! My kids are going to love it!
Currently September!
It cannot be September 2nd already. Really, where did the time go? This year seems to be on full speed ahead with no slowing down!
Since I must embrace the fact that it really is September, I will be linking up with Farley to add a little happiness to my day.
Listening
I've heard storms before, but this one takes the cake. It was so incredibly loud! The storm woke me up at 5am on my day to sleep in. I tried to fall back to sleep but it was no use. Oh well. I guess it is for the best. I had more time to link up with Farley that way!
Loving
The weather has changed for the most part around here. It has been nice and cool and I have been fully embracing it with longer sleeves and comfy sweatshirts. I hope the cool weather continues because it can get mighty hot at school!
Thinking
I know, I know, you all warned me! I saw the some e-cards, I read the blog posts, I saw the instagrams. However, I was naive. I thought maybe I would be so excited I wouldn't notice the tiredness. Wrong. Very, very, wrong. Back to school is beyond exhausting. I wouldn't survive if it wasn't for all the naps. There truly is no bedtime too early anymore in my book!
Wanting
Following off the previous section, waking up early is not really my thing. Alarm clocks...nope! I could very well do without them! Going from spending the summer sleeping in until nearly noon to waking up at 5am just isn't really going so well. What was I thinking this summer? I should have been waking up early every day so this wouldn't have been a big deal.
Needing
I finally wrote in my planner last night. I caught up on last week and wrote in what was to come this week. I am hoping that I can stick with it this year. I spent the big bucks and I want to get my money's worth. Usually I quit the first week in. Not this time around! It will really help me in the future if I keep with it. Fingers crossed!
Love Yourself Spot
First on the list is all about the children. The one thing I wish I had gotten a chance to do last year is take the time to learn more about the kids I worked with. I know that by truly connecting with each child I will be able to reach and teach better. Doing so will make me and the children so much happier.
Next, I need to stop worrying about everything. All summer I worried about starting student teaching. I truly had no reason to worry because I know it is going to be a wonderful experience. My cooperating teacher is amazing and I am going to learn so much! Now, I am already worrying about taking over. I need to slow down, stop stressing, and live more in the moment. I will miss all the happy times in the now if I focus on worrying about everything to come.
Finally, take time for myself. I know student teaching is going to be a busy experience so I want to be sure to take time for myself and not become fully consumed with all things school related. Finding the balance is key.
Well there's my currently! Good thing Farley posted, or I might not have even had the motivation to blog at all this long weekend. Head on over and link up if you haven't already! In the meantime, is 9am too early to take another nap???
