L is for Linky Party...{Giveaway Day 12}

I start my student teaching in less than 30 days. Less than 30 days is all that stands between me and being in the classroom full time. I absolutely cannot wait for the experience to start! I want to make the absolute most out of the experience and that's where you all come in! The best part of blogging is that I have a whole community of amazing teachers to learn and grow from. In order to maximize the learning experience I have set up a little linky party that I think you might enjoy!

Let's face it, student teaching is one of those experiences that you never forget! The good, the bad, and the ugly, you remember it all! I'm sure you have fond memories of your own student teaching experience. Let's take a stroll down memory lane shall we?

First up, add this button below to your tale of student teaching blog post. Link the button back to this linky party post so your readers can find the party too!

Using this template below...

Share...
1. Your favorite memory from student teaching in the box labeled it was the best of times.
2. Your "worst" memory (or shall I say learning experience) from student teaching in the box labeled it was the worst of times.
3. Share some student teaching advice in the pink box so that I can make the most out of the experience and have a successful student teaching semester. If you have ever had a student teacher before, I would love to hear from the cooperating teacher's perspective especially!
***Note: If you do not have a blog, I would still love to hear from you! Tell me about your experience in the comments section below! I will be sure to read each one!***

I truly value all the memories and advice that will be shared during this linky party. It will be a wonderful growing experience for myself to learn from the best! To thank everyone that links up for giving me advice to make the most out of the experience, he or she will have a choice of receiving my font pack or borders pack. Just send me an e-mail at thepolishedteacher@gmail.com of which you prefer and I will send you back the pack of your choice!

That's it! I would love it if you could follow Farley's rule of three and comment on the 2 people ahead of you and the 1 behind you to get to meet new blogging friends! The more advice the merrier so be sure to share with your friends! The linky will remain open for a month! Link up below when you're ready! I can't wait to hear your tale of student teaching!

  1. My lesson planning tip would be to do plans on the computer. That way if you need to edit or extend the lesson, you can copy/paste or edit so easily. You can also email your plans to any co-teachers and you have them to reference easily the next year!!!

  4. Just remember that a lesson plan is exactly that, a plan to guide you in the direction but that there are times you will take a detour and that is ok!

  5. My tip is to make sure you have a good template on the computer. A Lot of what I do doesn't change during the week so it's nice to not have to rewrite or retype certain things every week. Time savers are a must!

  6. I agree that a good template is a must! I learned this after many years of writing basically the same thing for certain times WEEK after WEEK!!

  7. I am with everybody on the template as well. Another important thing is to over plan...especially in the beginning while you are just getting to know your kiddos and what they are capable of. :)

  9. My student teaching advice: Make notes at the end of every day! You think you will remember it, but you won't. Also, take advantage of your conference periods by setting up a visit to other classrooms in your building. Every teacher does things differently so you can get LOADS of ideas. Visit specials too! You never know...I taught grades 1 and 2 for 12 years and then got moved to PE! You can learn some good management techniques from ALL teachers. Good luck to you!

  10. I'd agree with the other comments to find a template that works for you and to remain flexible. Your plans are a guide, a support- you don't need to follow them EXACTLY!

  11. I agree that you need to over plan and be flexible. I now have a template I run off for my lesson plans, a separate very detailed reading plan that stays on my reading table, and a very detailed sub plan. Good luck with your student teaching!

  12. Best of Times: What a fun group of kids that you will always remember!
Worst of Times: Saying goodbye to everyone!
Advice: Don't be afraid to ask for help! Student teaching is a learning experience! Enjoy! Have Fun! Be over prepared!

  14. I must be old-fashioned...I still like to write out my plans, but I always tend to overplan. Much easier to circle things and do them the next day than to scramble around for something to fill extra time.

  15. I wish you the absolute best experience with your student teaching! I would love to share mine with you but it was nearly 35 years ago and all I remember is that it was in third grade... LOL! Too many other wonderful teaching experiences in between!

  16. I just linked up with you! You've gotten some great advice so far! I wish you the best and I can't wait to hear all about your experience!!

  17. Good luck! Best quick advice is to have a few stacks of pre-copied activities ready to grab when the unexpected happens! The other advice is to remember to laugh it off when things don't go as planned. :-)

  20. I'm switching completely to digital planning this year.. Before I would always have to take notes by hand during team planning, but all of our planning is going digital, so we will be sending out our plans electronically and I can add it to my electronic planner... I'm also switching up my electronic planner, so we'll see how that goes...

  21. Keep the focus on the learners and minimize the time you spend talking as a teacher. In other words, make the lesson as interactive as possible. Focus on communication.
