  5. One of my favourite gifts ever was from a class I had 5 years ago. I had to have surgery and was off of work for 2 weeks. The class bought a HUGE red apple cookie jar...and filled it with....wishes. Each child drew me a beautiful little "wish" and put it inside the jar. I still have the jar, and the wishes. I think of that class often. They were special kids and I hope their lives are as fantastic as they are.

  6. When a former second student of mine graduated (6th grade) she gave me a photo puzzle of her to remember her by. When she was in my class I did puzzles with her all the time at free time. It truly was a special gift. dbednarsk@yahoo.com

  10. I teach in a Title I school so my presents are few and far between. And they are never necessarily nice... but they mean so mean. Last year I got a stuffed moose from one of my students. That thing probably had lice and bed bugs in it but it was obvious it was all this child had. Best present ever...even if it had to secretly be thrown away because it smelled.

  11. When I was about to have my first child the parents got together and purchased a gift card to my favorite restaurant so the hubby and I could go out one last time, and one to babies r us to pick up some essentials. Loved that group of parents. :) It was the only time something like this has happened.

  13. I got something as a student teacher, it was a card when I was leaving, and the students attached a pencil to it, and on the back they wrote U and drew a picture of a rock, it was funny.

  18. My favorite gift was way back when I first taught and I would bring one diet Coke every day to enjoy with my lunch. And nearly every day someone would drink it...and I must have grumbled every day after lunch because when I was opening my gifts one boy had wrapped a 12 pack of diet Coke! It was truly the sweetest, most heart-felt gift ever! (And I never did find who took my soda daily...I even put a funny/direct note on the fridge and my principal made me remove it...maybe he was the culprit?)

  19. I teach in a low SES school, so gifts of any sort are rare, and are usually in the dollar store variety. One year, a youngster whose mom sold Avon, gave me.....deodorant. Now I do USE deodorant, but not Avon! I honestly think she found the closest thing that she could in her stock. LOL No, I wasn't offended. The fact that the little guy gave me anything showed that she appreciated what we had done together. :)
